DYB front man David Yeager is a versatile singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and worship leader based in the Chicago area. The son of a pastor and a pianist, his faith in Christ and a love of music have been constants throughout his life.

David’s musical training began with violin lessons at age seven. He wrote his first song in fifth grade, inspired by a youth leader and encouraged by his big sister. By high school he was getting the hang of it, and one song from his high school days (Long Island Lullaby) appears on the DYB’s debut album.

David attended Wheaton College where he got a degree in math with a minor in music. While at Wheaton he took an interest in audio production and recorded a series of original demos. One of these, the song Man of Galilee, earned an Outstanding Achievement in Songwriting Award in the 2003 Great American Song Contest. He started playing his songs live during his college years, forming impromptu bands and collaborations in coffeehouse venues.

Like his band-mates, David has been a church musician for much of his life and remains active in ministry. He met the other DYB members at First Baptist Church of Geneva, Il, where he was serving as a worship leader. Although he and the band now attend their own respective churches, they are frequently invited to guest-lead together for various services and church-sponsored events.

Besides fronting the DYB, David is an active session player, writer and vocalist. In 2008 he wrote and sang several songs on a children’s praise album for Awana Clubs International, with band-mate Steve Wick producing (see our music section for more info). He and Steve have collaborated on a number of other projects and recently performed live together on Moody Broadcasting Network’s Midday Connection. David is also a member of the Chicago Classic String Quartet.

David and his wife Brittany live in Wheaton, Il, and are expecting their first child in June.

Some of David’s favorite artists/bands:
Billy Joel, Glen Phillips, Jeff Buckley, David Wilcox, Sting, the Smoking Popes, Dream Theater, Peter Gabriel, David Gray, Sara Groves, Rich Mullins, Waterdeep
